Mario Bunge (Buenos Aires, 1919) is one of the most renowned philosophers of science worldwide. In 1960 he settled in Canada, where he has been professor of the country's oldest McGill University in Montreal. Author of over 50 books (including the eight volumes of his Treatise on Philosophy), almost all in English, he has received 19 honorary doctorates and the Prince of Asturias Award for Humanities in 1982 Scourge of fraud in 1991 encouraged foundation of the Argentine Center for Research and Refutation of Pseudoscience (CAIRP).
