The Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh (Thura Thien, 1926), an unusual combination of mystic, scholar and activist, is one of the most beloved Buddhist masters in the West. Poet, Zen master and president of the Vietnamese Buddhist Peace Delegation, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He is the author of numerous books in which he advocates a search for personal and internal peace as an essential step for the achievement of peace in the world and interreligious dialogue.
