André Compte-Sponville (Paris, 1952) is one of the most brilliant and appreciated both inside and outside their country French philosophers. From 18 he declared atheist and begins to search for answers about religion, God and spirituality within philosophy, specifically in the materialist tradition.
He currently teaches at the University of Paris - La Sorbonne and works in various media such as French Libération.
On 4 March 2008 he was appointed member of the National Consultative Ethics Committee for French President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy.
