Angel Saenz-Badillos (Logroño Boston 1940- 2013) was a leading specialist in Sephardic culture, medieval Hebrew poetry and philology and history of the Hebrew language. In 1972 doctoró in Trilingual Biblical Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid and in 1975 he became professor of Hebrew at the University of Granada. Since 1988 he was professor of Hebrew at the Complutense and, between 2001 and 2012, director of the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University. The result of his research has been published more than 30 books, most notably his History of the Hebrew Language, published in English by Cambridge University Press.
